Re: Ubuntu 10.04 with psb driver WORKS!

Well, at least with the upgrade I was lucky, no problem upgrading to the new sources.

Thanks a lot for the other information on thunderbird.

Cheers

Re: Ubuntu 10.04 with psb driver WORKS!

Hi,

Uuuuh, I detected another (IMHO big) problem. Thunderbird is unusuable, tons of redraw problems. It starts with entering the master password, but even after entering it 'blind' the app is not usuable.

Cheers

Re: Ubuntu 10.04 with psb driver WORKS!

Hi fly First of all a BIG thank you for posting this manual. I followed your instructions step by step and it worked out of the box. DVD display with mplayer-vaapi was also fine. What IMHO is missing in the README of the mplayer-vaapi package is a sudo apt-get install libva-dev but this was easy to ...

Re: New repository for fit-PC2

Hi, The new kernel 26.24-34-fitpc2 works fine, Logitech UVC cameras are now detected and function properly. However, I detected a new issue: The kernel module dm-mod (needed for the tool cryptsetup) is not available (it is in stock ubuntu kernel). Could you make it available? Maybe a general questio...

Re: USB camera issues

Hi, Yepp, camera is detected and works well (tested it with Skype test function). A little glitch: Upon activation of the camera, the message log file is filled with 'special blit' messages which do not occur with the same camera on Lenovo X41/X61/T40/T42 and standard heron kernel. It does not seem ...

Re: USB camera issues

Hi,

I did not think it is so simple: The uvcvideo module is not present in the fitpc2 kernel. This is why the camera is not detected.

So my request is: Please create a new kernel package which contains the uvcvideo module.

Cheers

Re: USB camera issues

Ok, I did the tests with stock 8.04.3. Both Logitech cameras Bus 004 Device 017: ID 046d:09c1 Logitech, Inc. Bus 004 Device 015: ID 046d:08ca Logitech, Inc. were recognized by Skye 2.0.72 without problems. BUT Skype crashed when I tried to use them (e.g. pressing the 'Test' button in the Options/Vid...

Re: USB camera issues

Yes, I know about the issues. BUT: The camera works PERFECTLY with all Ubuntu 8.04 kernels on Lenovo X41, X61, T40, T42 (alle the Lenovos I tested during the past 1.5 years). So I cannot think of a reason why I should suddendly hit a driver or firmware but. But anyway, I will test stock Ubuntu 8.04 ...

Re: USB camera issues

First request, the lsusb output. The camera is device 029 (not more information on a stock 8.04.3 kernel). The second request, the fresh install, I will try to answer tomorrow evening. Re: USB camera issues

Hi, One of the cameras is the 'QuickCam® Pro for Notebooks'. The other is not sold anymore and nothing is written on the camera or revealed by lsusb. The driver I use? I am not sure, but since both cameras worked out of the box starting with the 8.04 release, without installing anything, I assume th...
