I am very new to linux, and I wanted to make the computer an HTPC, but whenever I try to run HD video it doesn't even come close... I installed as per the instructions on the website, and I added the depositories and what not, but to no avail.
I tried

but I'm not sure how to install those packages..
anyway, the main question is, is there no way to run HD video on ubuntu 9.04 on the fitPC2 as of now?
So officially, there are no working video drivers for 9.04?

Try to install ubuntu 9.10 like described here:

I followed your advice and upgraded to 9.10 and installed as per instructions.
The good news is it can play video now, and run boxee and elisa (well enough), but no HD really.
If I reinstall 8.04 just like in the instructions I will get HD playback? I don't expect perfect, I just expect it to be able to do it like 20fps without too much hiccuping.

You can get HD video from Mplayer only. Does`n matter of Ubuntu version.
