Two Mini-PCIe instead of the 2.5 drive bay

Post by DJ-KhaosTheory »

I believe that two Mini-pcie should be added, with the possbility of using one for wifi or a 3g network card, and one for user storage. With two of these slots users could mix and match, and more models could be produced. It would also reduce the thickness of the unit by as much as 1/4 of an inch. I personally would use a 3G card and a 64gb pcie SSD. They are cheaper, and more compact.

Feedback is appreciated

Good idea, but since Menlow has 2 PCIe lanes and one is taken by Gigabit Ethernet it will require a PCIe switch that shares bandwidth.
Better off waiting for a future chipset with more PCIe lanes.
